Cooper's Classroom

Dear Friends of our Hummelstown Community,

I would like to share with you an opportunity to continue helping the students and teachers of Lower Dauphin Middle School AND honor a long-time teacher and friend of our community, Ben Cooper. Ben taught science and math in the LD School District for 35 years. I have created a makerspace classroom in memory of Ben for use by all three grade levels in the Middle School. A makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials both virtual and physical.

This unique educational experience complements and enhances the science curriculum. I worked with the Falcon Foundation, the Superintendent, the Middle School principal and science teachers to bring this idea to reality. This new classroom concept has been an awesome addition to the student’s middle school experience.  The teachers are excited to have this opportunity and have created curriculum based activities for sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

The Falcon Foundation has set up a program account called Cooper’s Classroom to accept tax deductible donations (checks made out to LDFF) for continued support of this program (write Cooper’s Classroom on memo line). Please consider contributing— it’s a great way to remember a lifelong teacher while giving back to the community. Mail check to LDFF, 291 East Main St, Hummelstown, PA 17036.  If you have any questions please contact me at 717.554.3021 or coopersclassroomlowerdauphin@gmail.com.  Thank you for considering to support this program.

Sincerely, Rebecca Kline
